Orthopedic Surgery

Jackson Animal Hospital is fortunate to have one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the west available for any of your pet’s orthopedic needs- whether your pet has sustained an injury from trauma, has a degenerative orthopedic issue such as hip or elbow dysplasia, or is suffering from joint instability and chronic pain.

Dr. Randy Acker, a graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine, has been the owner and medical director of Sun Valley Animal Center since 1982 and co-owner of Jackson Animal Hospital since 2015.

Dr. Acker’s special interest in medical and surgical care for the sporting and working dog evolved over the last 20 years, and has culminated in his outstanding reputation as an orthopedic surgeon. His orthopedic skills have made both Sun Valley Animal Center and Jackson Animal Hospital referral hospitals for several orthopedic surgical procedures.

Almost any surgery performed in human medicine has a corresponding surgery that is also performed in animals. Here is a list of some of the more common surgeries performed by Dr. Acker.

  • TPLO
  • Total Hip Replacement
  • Tate Elbow Replacement
  • Patellar Luxation
  • Fracture Repair
